193 Christian pilgrims depart Yola for Jordan

For the 2022 pilgrimage, 193 Christian pilgrims from Taraba and Gombe states would be transported to Jordan via the Yola International Airport.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, this was disclosed by the Executive Chairman of the Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Rev. Yakubu Pam, while addressing the intending pilgrims at the point of departure in Yola on Monday.

He stated that the Taraba State Government supported 164 pilgrims, 29 pilgrims from Gombe, of which three were self-funded, and that the pilgrims will also travel Jerusalem for the rite.

He asked them to be excellent representatives of Nigeria while in the Holy Land and urged them to endure the rigors of the religious activities as they visited several historical monuments.

He also commended the administration of the President Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), for its regular support to the National Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC), stressing it would continue to support government policies and programmes.

He, on the other hand, urged pilgrims to pray for the nation’s sustained peace and stability, citing the country’s current security problems, particularly as the 2023 general elections approached.

“Any pilgrim who decides to abscond and not return to Nigeria would definitely be apprehended and sanctioned appropriately,” he said.
