2023: Don't distract my attention, Adeboye insists in cryptic post

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, on the eve of the crucial 2023 presidential elections reminded Nigerians not to distract concerning the polls.

The cleric while reacting to concerns raised by Nigerians on social media about his silence over his preferred candidate in the 2023 presidential election shared an old video from a previous Holy Ghost Service, where he said that Nigerians should not expect him to name a preferred presidential candidate in the coming election as his assignment does not relate to that.

He stated, “Don’t ask me about the elections,my assignment has nothing to do with that. My assignment is to pray for the nation”, he said.

Religion Nigeria on Friday morning had reported that the silence of Adeboye; General Overseer of the Living Faith Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo, as well as the Deeper Christian Life Ministry led by William Folorunsho Kumuyi, generated a major stir on the social media.

It was gathered that Nigerians took to various social media platforms to express their worries that Adeboye, Kumuyi and Oyedepo ‘shunned’ the most critical event that will shape the country in the next four years.

However in the latest development, Adeboye has stated that his assignment regarding the 2023 general elections is to pray for Nigerians.

Reacting to his latest statement, @im_chrisroyz, wrote, “Thank you sir. The first time a man of God is saying something positive about the election. You don’t force people to do things your way”.

Also, @lilianjolaoluwa, commented, “Those genuinely following you closely knows you have never endorsed any candidate. We always make our choice and you have never interfered with our choices. We would vote Peter Obi and trust God for victory.”

Another user, @oluwaseyifunmi_18, commented, “God bless you Daddy I respect your silence. God bless you and may God will be done. He will have mercy upon us”.

Also, @esterluve, commented, “Daddy I am a born again believer and know the scripture too. Now my question is why is God always silence when we need him the most ?most especially in this election period Leaders are chosen by God, why can God just allow our preferred candidate to win”.
