Popular Nigerian gospel singer-songwriter, Frank Edwards, has said that the devil only hears the echo of ‘WAHALA! WAHALA! WAHALA!’ whenever Christians pray in tongues.

The 33-year-old singer made this known to a follower on his verified Facebook page @FrankEdwardsPage on Tuesday while responding to a question about ‘speaking in tongues’ from one of his followers.

“Pray In the spirit more often. There is a reason why the Bible says to pray without ceasing! For someone like me that study a lot, my comprehension is sharper after prayer! How does it work for you?” he posted to his 1.4 million followers.

However, amidst the many replies with different experiences, one follower with the username Joe Igo asked if the devil understands ‘speaking in tongues’.

He said, “Please @Frank Edwards Page I want to ask does the devil understand when we pray in tongues?”

Reacting, Edwards said, “Joe Igo No! When you start praying in tongues the only thing the devil hears is “WAHALA !!! WAHALA!!! WAHALA !!!!! WAHALA !!!!”

What Bible Says About Speaking In Tongues

Let’s have a peep into the scriptures about what the devil hears when Christians pray in accordance with the word of God.

Edwards might just be speaking the gospel truth when he made the statement. Let me start with the book of Act 2:4 “All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enables them. Acts 19:6 says, “When Paul placed his hand on them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied.”

According to the scripture, when Daniel was praying he did not pray in tongues. He was praying in human language that everybody would understand.

However, 1 Corinthians 14:2 says, “For the person who speaks in another language (or tongues) is not speaking to men but God, since no one understands him; however, he speaks mysteries in the spirit.

So, this scripture has made us believe that when we pray in tongues, we are praying to God, nobody else, it is a private two-way conversation with God.

It is a personal communication to God that nobody else, including the devil, has any business listening to us because; to such a person we are speaking in a strange language.

It is crystal clear that even Christians don’t know what they are saying and God will not allow Satan to understand what they don’t.

In the book of Romans 2:26, the Bible says, “at the same time the spirit also helps us in our weakness, because we don’t know how to pray for what we need. But the spirit intercedes along with our groans that cannot be expressed in words.”

We can then believe God, uses us, pray through us, and bestow upon us the word in the first place, would not allow Satan the ability to understand His plans and strategies that He is going to use as a weapon to conquer him. It will look like when we are revealing our plans or giving the enemy tip-off.

Therefore, when the spirit intercedes for believers in line with the will of God, it is not Satan’s business to know what God is saying. Devil is actually in trouble and the only word he will be able to hear then is ‘WAHALA’ which means trouble is in the offing.

The scriptures also reveal to us that when we are praying in tongues, the Holy Spirit is praying through us and ministers to us through His words. We engage the Holy Spirit when we pray in tongues to speak His will on earth for us as it is in heaven. It is sure that God will not allow Satan the privilege of knowing what we are saying.

Rom 8; 26 – “In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.”

God would not reveal His plans to the enemy; so, Devil cannot understand us when we pray. Devil is spiritually affected when Christians pray in tongues.
