Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has warned politicians against using religious centers in the state to campaign.
According to The News Agency of Nigeria, He stated this at the fourth National Inter-Religious Conference in Kano on Thursday.
Ganduje urged strict adherence to an Independent National Electoral Commission directive that prohibits political parties from conducting tactical campaigns at religious institutions.
He also challenged religious leaders to work together in mutual understanding and dialogue to promote unity, peace, and cohesion while downplaying issues of division. He maintained that only such a platform would promote development and avoid unnecessary conflict between the two major faiths.
” This is the reason why the leadership of various religions should ensure mutual understand and dialogue to prevent troubles before they escalated. We have to use the power of faith to deepen our unity and prevent those intended to use it for selfish interest”. he said.
