Fish out Delta mosque attackers, MURIC urges police

Muric

The Muslim Rights Concern has called on the Delta State Commissioner of Police, Ari Muhammad Ali, to arrest those who attacked a mosque at Ugelli, Delta State.

Some yet-to-be-identified gunmen had attacked a mosque at Ugelli on Friday and shot 11 Muslim worshippers and abducted the Imam.

But in statement on Saturday, MURIC Director, Prof Ishaq Akintola, condemned the attack, describing it as “one too many”.

The Islamic group claimed muslims have become endangered species in Delta and the entire South- East.

“This is a dastardly act that must be condemned by all right-thinking people and we condemn it in the strongest terms.

“It will be recalled that the Secretary of the Delta State Muslim Council, Mallam Musa Ugasa, a resident of Ughelli, was brutally killed earlier this year by yet-to-be-identified persons.

“The latest attack on Ughelli Central Mosque is one too many.

“MURIC calls on the Commissioner of Police in Delta State Ari Muhammad Ali, to fish out the perpetrators,” the statement read.
