Gov poll: Vote candidates that’ll improve Kaduna’s fortunes, CAN advises

The Christian Association of Nigeria, Kaduna State chapter, has urged the electorates in the state to vote for candidates that will improve the fortunes of the state and make it safe and prosperous in the forthcoming March 18 governorship and House of Assembly election.

The State Chairman of CAN, Rev. John Joseph Hayab, in a statement, said, “Let us vote for leaders that will improve the fortunes of the state and build a safe, inclusive, secure and prosperous state.”

The Christian body then urged the people to shun violence or derogatory remarks adding that, there can be only one winner at the end.

He stated further that the candidates need to uphold the spirit of sportsmanship, see themselves as one family to ensure the unity of the state.

The association also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to be neutral, impartial just and truly independent to alleviate the feelings of suspicious electoral malpractice resulting from the concerns of lack of transparency in the just concluded presidential and state House of Assembly elections, stating that INEC must adhere to the provision of the Electoral Act as amended.

He urged the citizens to come out to vote for the candidates of their choice, especially aspirants that have shown commitment to the peace and unity of the diverse groups of people they aspire to lead.

He praised the electorates for maintaining peace, before, during and after the elections, noting that the turnout of first-time voters points to a high level of wakefulness by the citizenry to exercise their universal franchise.

The chairman of the state religious body hailed all Christians and people of the state for coming out en masse to vote during the Presidential and National Assembly elections held on Saturday, February 25, 2023.
