A monarch in Ibeju Lekki Local Government Area of Lagos State, Onibeju, Lekki of Ibeju Lekki, Oba Waliu Rasaq, has warned upgraded monarchs against act of insurbinatio and annexation of territory.

Oba Rasaq made this disclosure during a meeting with heads of Ibeju communities in his palace, where he also noted that any traditional ruler found culpable would be made to face sanctions.

Rasaq urged the kings and chiefs not to take the Ibeju throne for granted.

“Report reaching Onibeju shows some obas are trying to foment trouble by expansion bid that doesn’t have support and approval of the ruler.

“This action is likely to cause chaos and bring about disorder and protest in Ibeju. I wish to tell them to desist from this as any further action can cause breakdown of law and order.”

The Onibeju called on Lagos State keep an eye on them and supervise the Ibeju Lekki Local Government.

Over 100 heads of Ibeju communities present at the meeting reaffirmed their allegiance to the Onibeju.

Chairman of Ibeju Council of Baale, Olatunde Raji, stressed the meeting was called for the leaders to let know their stances on the matter.

“It has come to our notice some of the monarchs are also claiming boundary with him. That was why Onibeju called Baaleto confirm their positions.

“Onibeju is the paramount ruler and he does share boundaries with the new kings or any community leader. And if the issue needs to be resolved, this is the way it has to start. All the upgraded kings are subordinates to Onibeju,” he added.
