The burial of the slain Sokoto student, Deborah Yakubu, was held amidst tears in her hometown, Tungan Magajiya in Rijau Local Government Area of Niger State on Saturday.
Yakubu, a Christian 200-level student of Shehu Shagari College of Education in Sokoto over an alleged blasphemy of Prophet Muhammad on Thursday.
The institution was subsequently shut indefinitely following the incident which was filmed and uploaded on social media amidst outrage from concerned Nigerians.
However, the arrest of some suspects by the police in the state led to riots on Saturday as churches, shops, and markets were attacked and looted.
