Rule with fear of God, BSN tasks Nigerian leaders

The President of the Bible Society of Nigeria, Bishop Olubunmi Banwo, has implored political leaders to rule with the fear of God.

Bishop Banwo’s comment came amid the ongoing naira and fuel crises that led to the death of at least one protester and hardship, nationwide.

According to The Punch, the Bishop said this during the 14th year anniversary of the organisation that was held on Wednesday in Lagos.

The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN; and Senatorial Oluremi Tinubu attended the event.

In the words of the BSN President, “Men and brethren, as we reflect on the noble ideas and values of the founding fathers of this great society, I appeal to all leaders at all the governance levels to rule this great maroon with fear of God.

“There’s too much suffering in the land today. We are already at the throes of the nation plummeting at jet speed. Tension is rising with the compounded problem of liquidity, squeeze and scarcity of new notes.

“This, when considered, alongside the lingering scarcity of petroleum products and energy crisis, is already creating a dire situation whereby the masses can be pushed to the wall. Our leaders need to wake up”

According to Pastor Yemi Oyinloye, the event’s chairman and national secretary of the Foursquare Gospel Church, Nigeria and the rest of the world would have been in darkness if not for organizations like the BSN that spread the gospel.

The guest speaker, Monday Ubani, advised Nigerians to avoid tribalism when voting. He claimed that the current sufferings are not particular to a tribe.

The organisation gave an award to the general superintendent of the Acts of the Apostles International Church, Dr. Z.B. Adeboriota.

An award was also presented to the managing director of Cowry Asset Management Limited,Johnson Chukwu.

The executive director of SIDMACH Technologies, Mike Olajide, and a chartered accountant, Adedolapo Fayomi received awards.
