Sharia court remands man for alleged theft of seasoning cubes

A Sharia Court sitting in Kano, on Tuesday, remanded a 37-year-old man, Yusha’u Ado, in a custodial centre for allegedly stealing 22 cartons of seasoning cubes.

Ado, who was arraigned by the police on two counts of “criminal breach of trust and cheating,” pleaded guilty to the charges.

The police prosecutor, Abdullahi Wada, told the court that the complainant, Jamilu Ibrahim, of Galandanci Quarters, Kano, reported the matter at the Sabon Gari Police Station on March 10.

According to the police First Information Report, the complainant reported that he entrusted Ado with 260 cartons of seasoning cubes for safekeeping.

He said 22 cartons of the cubes, valued at N216,000, however, went missing when he went to recover the goods.

The presiding judge, Dr Bello Khalid, ordered the defendant to be remanded and adjourned the case till April 8, 2022.
