Shi’ite protesters have demanded that the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), lift the travel ban placed on the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky.
According to The PUNCH, the protesters who stormed Abuja on Thursday also demanded that the presidency lift the ban placed on El-Zakzaky.
Earlier on Thursday, a Federal High Court in Abuja dismissed Sheikh Ibraheem El-request Zakzaky’s that the Department of State Services release his and his wife’s passports.
Notwithstanding the 10 proofs submitted by his attorneys to show that the DSS took the passports away following the Muslim cleric’s return from India in 2018, Justice Obiora Egwuatu, who rendered the ruling, determined that the cleric had failed to establish that his passport was gone.
The demonstrators were spotted carrying signs and banners that demanded that President Buhari lift the travel ban on Sheikh El-Zakzaky.
Unconfirmed claims of gunfire at the protesters have also surfaced.
