We’ll mobilise Christians to vote against APC – Cleric

Northern CAN chairmen adamant on same-faith ticket stance

The Senior Servant of Realm of Glory Churches and Convener, Catalyst for Global Peace and Justice Initiative, Abraham Sam Aideyegbo, has said the Christain community will vote against the All Progressive Congress.

Aideyegbo made this known during an interactive session on Arise TV on Tuesday, adding that the choice of the APC Muslim-Muslim ticket is not acceptable to the Christain community.

Premium Politics had reported that the APC standard-bearer, Bola Tinubu, picked a former Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima, who is a Muslim. as his running mate.

Following the announcement, different organisations, and individuals have criticized the move, saying it is a sign of promoting a faith above the other.

Ayedogbon making his submission said the former Lagos State governor did not consult with any of the Christain community bodies, adding that they (APC) will be punished for such the move.

He said, “When Asiwaju Bola Ahmed said he was consulting, and I even heard some of the APC stalwart saying he consulted both within the party and outside the party because they need votes.

“Question I’m asking is that where Christain leaders, the Christians Association of Nigeria excos and other groups. Do you know that for the first time, the Catholic Bishop Conference also has taken a position on the basis of fairness and justice that they will not have this? They won’t support this, were they consulted?

“The excos, the national exco of CAN, PFN and so on, or are we treated like we don’t need to be consulted or because or because they are some few big men that they talk with in secret and they tell them don’t worry.

“Now, I have no record, there’s nobody whether from the from CAN or PFN that have told me and I dare say that its a privilege that you brought me up to speak on behalf of Christians, it is not by merit but by the mercy of God, so, I’m the least among Christain leaders.

“But if they have consulted CAN leadership and PFN leadership, someone how, somehow, I’m significant enough in Nigeria Christianity to know. There’s no record that there has been any such consultation.

“So, even if consultation starts now, it’s medicine after death, It’s not whether Christain Association of PFN will mobilize their members or we Christians leaders to vote against APC and this ticket, we are already doing it, and we are going to do it more.”
