Benue police arrest church deacon beating lady in viral video
The operatives of the Benue State Police Command, have arrested a deacon with one of the churches in the state, Kelvin Iorfa who was seen a viral video flogging a lady, claiming he was under spell.
Spokesperson of the Benue State Police Catherine Anene, confirmed his arrest to Daily Post on Tuesday morning.
The cleric however blame a “spiritual attack” for the physical assault he inflicted on a woman recently.
Recall that Iorfa was recently captured in a viral video maltreating a lady.
According to the video, he was seen flogging the lady said to be his younger sister with a belt. The young lady later fainted in the video.
The video has stirred wide criticism with many calling for his arrest.
Afterwards, Iorfa was nabbed by men of the Benue State Police Command.
Following his arrest, he reportedly pleaded that he was under a “spiritual attack” which rendered him unable to know what he was doing.
He claimed he was “surprised” seeing himself in the video that has gone viral, beating his younger sister.
Confirming, the PPRO, Catherine Anene, said, he is yet to be interrogated.
“Yes, that is true [he has been arrested]. But for the claims about what he said, I haven’t spoken with him. When I speak with him, I will get back to you,” the PPRO said.
