The Bishop, Diocese Of Atamunu, Methodist Church in Cross River State, Rt. Rev. Barr. Otuekong Ukut, has doled out educational materials worth millions of naira to two schools in the state as part of his contribution to the development of education in the country.

Learning materials such as books and several writing materials were donated to assist the needy both pupils and students of primary and secondary schools.

The beneficiaries of the largess were the pupils and the students of Ikot Omin Methodist Church, 8 Miles in Calabar, and Diocese Of Atamunu Methodist Church otherwise known as Cathedral of Favour.

While delivering the educational materials, the cleric urged the pupils and students to focus on their studies in order to achieve success in their academic endeavours.

“I see great potentials in you people. In this midst, I see a lot of you who are growing up to become engineers, lawyers and doctors.

“I see civil and computer engineers among you pupils. I charge you all to be serious with your academic work. Desist from telling lies, obey your parents and teachers if you want your dreams to be actualised.

“Tell your friends to be enrolled in Susana Wesley Schools. I urge to be hardworking so that you can aspire to have eight degrees just like I have.

“Let me make it clear to you that if you read hard with good behaviour, and attain higher education, the good things of life, which you so desire can be achievable without hitch,” the Bishop told the beneficiaries.

The head teacher of Susana Wesley Schools, Mrs. Hodo Ofem, in reaction on behalf of the schools, hailed Bishop Otuekong for his contribution to the development of education saying that pupils and students of the schools expressed their gratitude for the educational materials donated.

“This has never happened before, that a Bishop would visit us, to see how we are faring and encourage us with gifts that would boost learning. We are indeed so grateful,” said the head teacher.

Hailing Bishop Otuekong, she regarded him as “a schoolar, philanthropist, and lover of education” who once he enters a place things turn around, the Synod Secretary, Very Rev. Anthony Essien, said with the materials, the sky remains the limit of the pupils and students.
