Delta cleric tasks presidential tribunal on fairness, justice

The Bishop of the Diocese of Warri, Anglican communion, Delta State, His Lordship, Rt Reverend Christian Esezi Ide, has called on the judiciary to tell Nigerians who won the February 25 general election if in truth there was a winner.

The cleric made the call in his Bishop’s Charge at the 14th synod of the Diocese at our Saviour’s Anglican church , Okurode- Urhobo, Warri, Delta state with the theme ; ‘Spiritual wilderness , God’s way to draw our attention’.

Ide expressed worries over the state of the Nation, noting that it was shameful that some Nigerians had found it difficult to congratulate the President-elect, Bola Tinubu because of allegations of election malpractices at the presidential poll.

He stated further that the Nigerians now on the judiciary to tell ” who the winner of the election was if there was actually a winner and where there was no clear winner order for a rerun as the case may be”.

The Bishop in his charge also urged the Delta state Governor-elect, Sheriff Oborevwori to hit the ground running from May 29 on issues of urban renewal and restoration of oil rich Warri to a proper city status.

He called for a proper drainage system, roundabout and flyovers to be constructed at the PTI , Jakpa , Enerhen junctions and Hausa quarters to ease traffic.

” It is not in dispute that Warri is the commercial capital of Delta state hence it is expedient that the city experiences urban renewal and restoration to proper city status.

“A roundabout in Hausa quarters with tarred roads linking Essi layout, Igbudu market and Bazunu road, connecting Lower Erejuwa should be constructed.”

While urging the security agencies to address the challenges of insecurity in Warri and environs, the cleric said the goverment should upgrade the Osubi airport.
