Former Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido, Wednesday, visited Kano for the first time after three years of his dethronement from the stool as he stopped over to visit his mother.
It was gathered said that the presence of the former Emir quickly attracted crowd who gather on some major roads to give him a warmth reception resulting in gridlock along the roads leading to his mother’s home on Dabo Road.
While clarifying the situation the former CBN governor revealed that he was actually on transit to Dutse, Jigawa State, through Kano to pay condolences to the people of the state over the death of their Late Emir, the Late Dr Nuhu Muhammadu Sanusi.
He stated further that the bad flying weather which caused their flight to land at Kano International airport to ensure the safety of the passengers had influenced his presence.
He said that, “Upon landing in Kano, hundreds of people stormed the airport and persuaded me to at least come and greet my mother, which I did.”
He having got to his mother’s home, he met so many well wishers who prayed for him with love and affection and wished him well.
The former Emir affirmed that as a citizen of Nigeria, he has the right to visit any part of the country of his choice as a citizen of Nigeria adding that the court has ruled in his favour to that effect.
The former Emir of Kano was said to have since departed the state for his destination.
