Islamic cleric warns against plot to truncate Tinubu's swearing-in ceremony

The National Missioner of Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Sheik AbdurRahman Ahmad, has warned against plan by certain individuals to truncate the official inauguration of Bola Tinubu as the president of Nigeria come May 29.

Recall that the Department of State Services has raised an alarm on Wednesday that there are plans by certain individuals to stop the official inauguration of Tinubu as the president.

Speaking on Sunday in Lagos at the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria’s annual Ramadan lecture, the Islamic preacher claimed that such a move would split the nation.

He said, “It will be unwise for anyone to think they can use extrajudicial means to truncate the swearing-in. That will be dangerous because it is at the heart of the unity of this country. It is also at the heart of the well-being of the people. If we must have a country, then we must live by the constitution.

“And if there is an election and it has not been nullified through a proper legal pronouncement, then the swearing-in must go on. Those who are thinking that they will truncate it should have a rethink in their own interest and the interest of Nigeria as a country and Nigerians as a people,” he added.
