Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has felicitated His Eminence, Cardinal Francis Arinze, as the clergyman turns 90 years today.
Taking to his official Twitter page, the former Anambra State governor wrote, “On behalf of my family, and the entire OBIdient family, I most happily wish the Prefect Emeritus of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments, His Eminence, Francis Cardinal Arinze, a happy birthday.”
Pouring encomiums on the Bishop, Obi said that the spiritual leader has maintained the quality of being real over time.
“You have over the decades, remained a real pastor and shepherd to God’s people. Your service to God and to humanity as a priest, bishop and cardinal bears eloquent witness to your genuine love for God and man.
“As you clock 90 years today, I thank God for the gift of you to the universal church and our nation, in particular. May God protect and bless you always with abundant health and happiness,” he added.
Francis Arinze is a Nigerian Roman Catholic Cardinal who was born on 1 November 1932.
From 2002 to 2008, he served the Congregation for Divine Worship and Sacramental Discipline’s Prefect.
Since 2005, he has served as the Velletri-Segni Cardinal Bishop. Before Pope Benedict XVI was chosen in the 2005 papal conclave, Arinze was one of Pope John Paul II’s top advisers and was seen as papabile.
