Prince Ogundana confirmed as new Onikoyi of Ikoyi-Ekiti

The appointment of Prince Moses Ogundana Akinwande has been approved as the new Onikoyi of Ikoyi-Ekiti in the Ikole Local Government Area of the state by the State government.

The approval was given at the state executive council meeting held at the executive chamber, Governor’s Office, Ado-Ekiti, on Wednesday last week.

Tribune reports that a release signed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Mr Olayinka Oyebode, announced the approval of Prince Akinwande Ogundana of Iledin Ruling House.

It was gathered that his approval was a unanimous decision of the state government, kingmakers and the entire community as best among other contestants after the divine consultation through Ifa without any rancour according to the tradition.

Prince Ogundana selection to occupy the stool came after the demise of Oba Julius Olalere Falaki who has gone to the great beyond in August 25, 2022.

He was picked by the kingmakers after Ifa divination process at the palace of Onikoyi, revealed Prince Akinwande Ogundana as the best among the candidates.

It was said that the community’s people expressed satisfaction with his emergence as the new traditional ruler, saying Prince Ogundana will use his wealth of experience in the public and private sectors to remodel the community for the better.

While addressing the community on Thursday last week, Prince Moses Akinwande Ogundana expressed his profound gratitude to all indigenes of Ikoyi at home and in the diaspora for their efforts and support in ensuring his election as Oba-elect was rancour-free.

He said, “Top of the day to all sons and daughters of Ikoyi-Ekiti kingdom both at home and in the diaspora, I’m using this opportunity to appreciate you all for your unwavering support for me during the race to ascend the throne of my forebears.

“If not for your support and cooperation, this would not have been achieved, I also congratulate my co-contestants for running a good race with me, and I want everyone of them to know that we are all winners.

“I encourage everybody to let us come together to lift our community to greater heights and recover all lost glories and take its rightful place in the comity of towns in Ekiti State in particular and Nigeria in general.”
