Remember your govt in prayers, Uzodinma tells pilgrims
The Imo State Government is set to send its first batch of a total of 1000 Imo residents for Pilgrimage, saying they should remember the government both in prayer and in conduct.
This is coming after more than 10 years of not attending Pilgrimage from the state.
Commenting, the Governor of Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma urged the first set of intending Pilgrims to be good ambassadors in their conduct and not to abscond to show that Imo people are different.
The Governor said, “Remember that the government that sent you needs to be encouraged in prayer and in good conduct”.
Governor Uzodimma explained that his administration will not only concentrate on physical and infrastructural Prosperity but also the spiritual Prosperity and the well-being of Ndi Imo.
He urged the intending Imo Pilgrims to thank God for the peace in Imo even just as he charged them to pray for peaceful coexistence of Nigeria, for President Muhammadu Buhari, who God has used for the infrastructural developments in the State and the President-Elect, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The Imo State Chapel Chaplin, Rev. Father Alaribe had earlier hailed the Governor for his kind gesture and his good intentions for the Imo people.
Alaribe stated that the Pilgrimage with 1000 Pilgrims being the highest in the history of the State is first of its kind.
The Chaplin revealed that the Governor authorized him as the Chairman of the Pilgrimage Board to include less privileged Imolites from various rural areas for the program.
The Executive Secretary of Nigeria Christian Pilgrims’ Commission, Rev. Yakubu Pam lauded Governor Uzodimma for sponsoring the highest number of Pilgrimage in the entire country.
He thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for espousing the culture of Pilgrimage in Nigeria and giving Nigerians the opportunity to pray for the Nation and its leaders.
It was gathered that the Imo State Government has fully paid for the transportation to Isreal and Jordan with feeding and other necessities for each Imo Pilgrim.
