Gov election: Kaduna Imam alleges threat to life
In preparation for the governoship and state House of Assembly rescheduled elections on March 18, an Imam in Kaduna North Local Government Area has cried out over a threat to his life by some Muslim leaders for not supporting a particular candidadte in the state.
Vanguard said the Imam who cried like a baby while delivering the Juma’at sermon warned the Muslim leaders against taking somebody’s life noting that anyone who caused the death of another would answer for it in the next world.
It was gathered that there is rumours going viral that some Imams were allegedly given huge amounts of money and cars to ensure that a particular candidate and party win at the polls on Saturday, March 18.
It was said that the Imam who was popularly known as “Malam”, asked the congregation not to engage in acts that would undermine the peace of the community during and after the election.
“People should please go out and vote for candidates of their choice. It’s shameful to threaten or force people to vote for those they don’t like,” he said.
It was gathered the Imam had betrayed his emotion and burst into tears while observing his prayer in Arabic, claiming that some Mallams were plotting to storm the pulpit if he did not canvass for votes from his congregation.
He reasoned that Mallams were supposed to live a “just and austere life”, saying that it was a sin if they compromise their integrity and allow politicians to induce them with gratification.
He then urged the security operatives to intensify their efforts and shun partisan politics to ensure the safety and coexistence of the citizens.
