Ramadan is regarded as the holiest month in the Muslim calendar. The period dedicated to fasting is one when Muslims are expected to be in a sober mood and keep away from certain activities. For entertainers who have to be in close contact with members of the opposite sex and alcohol in the course of doing their jobs, it is expected that Ramadan could limit things that entertainers can get involved in.
However, veteran actor, Saidi Balogun, says the holy month does not limit the kind of roles he plays. He told Sunday Scoop, “Ramadan does not disturb my job. I only limit the time I spend on set during that period. It does not stop the kind of roles (I play).”
Explaining what the period means to him. He said, “Ramadan is a month of blessing, reflection and glory. During this period, one is expected to abstain from everything that God does not want. It goes beyond smoking and drinking. One should also abstain from things one does that are unknown to others.”
The actor also stated that some of his new movies — On Line, Finding Ireti, Master P, The Scourge and Swap— would be released soon.
‘‘My second project is about my association, the Golden Movie Ambassadors of Nigeria. We would be having our election on May 26, 27 and 28, 2022.’’ Balogun added.
